Eixos do Projeto
In 2021, the Institute was selected by the Eletrobras companies' Socio-Environmental Projects Notice.
With this resource, the project gains strength and new areas of action. The Program has three areas of action: Community, Children and Environment.
Community
Training workshops aimed at young people and adults from Morro da Formiga for the development of low-cost sustainable technologies and practices, relating knowledge from agroecology and permaculture.
The chosen themes prioritize income generation and food security for resident families, as well as a legacy for the community space, such as: management of agroforestry systems; composting and bioconstruction.
The workshops take place monthly and prioritize the exchange of knowledge between socio-environmental initiatives in Rio's favelas.
Childhoods
Environment
Continuous reforestation actions and technical workshops for the training of local reforestation agents, combining traditional knowledge with technical and scientific knowledge.
The reforestation will take place in the area bordering the community and the Tijuca National Park through the implementation of agroforestry systems and in conjunction with the Rio de Janeiro City Hall's Mutirão Reforestation program. This partner will provide seedlings and help select the locations where the plantations will be developed.
